Party Season begins

It is that time of year when party invitations start to fall on the mat and children go from being over-excited at each deposit to a smile to a shrug and ‘depends on who its from’.   There’s all sorts of celebrations.  Halloween, Diwali, Eid, Chanukah, Christmas, New Year, etc.

Added to those are the school functions that are also de rigeur for a caring parent.  The Christmas Fayres, PTA family discos, school balls for parents, quiz nights…and pretty soon you only have one night between now and New Year’s Day to wax your legs.

Well, this year I am going to be a miser with my presence, especially as the children go to different schools and so there are two lots of school functions to support.   Unfortunately, I forgot to tell my family about this and the first lot of invites have already been enthused over and accepted.

The merry-go-round that brings the year to a close has been started up and set on ‘fast’.  I have my sick bag at the ready and shall keep my eyes closed for the more bumpy sections.

About Bea Turvey apprentice author and witch

I am a wild-haired author who cannot stop writing. The writing process is not a task for me. It is an extension of myself. When I write, I lose myself as easily as if I slipped into the story for a swim. Writing became a serious part of my life in Decmber of 2009. Unless you're reading this in 2017 it wasn't that long ago, and the bug hit me hard and fast. My first novel, Banished, was published in March 2010 and is available at If you read it, or anything else I've written, I hope you'll post a review and let me know why you liked it - or even why not!
